Fleet Championship
Like the lottery, you gotta buy a ticket to win! Alex Pline came on strong as the season waned which brought them over the finish line first by a hair and were the only team to sail all five of the events this year. Brady Stagg was second and last year’s champ took third. We had a phenomal 26 SSA members sail at least one race, but only 6 qualified for the Fleet Champion by sailing 3 SSA events. Winter Circuit
This is the time of year we all start thinking about sunny, warm Florida in January. The dates of the events are all solidified:
- December 16-17 FL St Champs, Davis Island YC Tampa
- December 29-30 Open Orange Bowl, Coconut Grove Sailing Club Miami
- January 2-7 Junior Worlds, Coconut Grove Sailing Club Miami
- February 3-4 Rasco, Miami
- February 9-11 Midwinters, Upper Keys Sailing Club Key Largo
- March 7-9 Bacardi Cup Coconut Grove Sailing Club Miami
- April 5-7 Don Q, Coconut Grove Sailing Club Miami
If you are at all interested in any of these, please add yourself to the Winter Migration sheet so we can help facilitate logistics. So often the issue is who wants to do what events and who can do what for logistics. Some people keep their boats in Miami and often drive down/back for events with an open hitch. There may also be opportunities for people to “boat share” – ie, share logistics/costs on one boat and split the regattas. The Miami people also really need charter boats for the Junior Worlds and may help your logistics if you’d be willing to offer your boat to a team.
Congrats to Snipe Award Winners
Thanks to the Snipe Fleet members who came out for the SSA Annual Meeting. The fleet will be well represented on the Board of Governors next year as Devon Feusahrens will be joining the Board and Lisa Pline will be Rear Commodore.
Brad & Marissa Milliken were recognized with a special Club Award for their volunteerism at SSA including taking on the Olivia Team Race Invite, Co-chairing Snipe Junior Nationals, and most any other task asked.

Lisa Pline was awarded the Alden Bugley Award, given for creativity in the promotion of one-design sailing. The award was in recognition of the DickC Cup that successfully brought new sailors and alums out last August.
