The Annapolis Snipe Fleet kicked off the season with a fantastic Spring Series + Clinic this weekend (May 22-23). Seven boats participated in two FULL days of beautiful sailing in the harbor. Big thanks to George Szabo who came out from San Diego to give us awesome, individualized and intense (but fun!) coaching. We had a… Continue reading SSA Snipe Spring Series + Clinic

Congrats to Lorie Stout and Lucas Masiello representing the Snipe Fleet for winning the Inaugural SSA Fleet Challenge! Trevor Perkins, nominated by the J22 Fleet with JRP crew Madeline Fisher (Broadneck HS) wore the Yellow Jersey most of the day, but a Corinthian correction of an earlier OCS bumped them down to 3rd for the… Continue reading Snipe Fleet Earns Bragging Rights in Inaugural SSA Fleet Challenge!
It was a little Frigid and breeze never got out of single Digits at the 2020 Snipe Frigid Digit, but in the world of COVID, it was a fun, crystal clear fall weekend with a great turnout of new and old Snipe sailors alike! Twenty-eight teams competed for the 2020 Atlantic Coast Champion title that was awarded to the winner of the Frigid Digit. Snipe rock stars Ernesto Rodriguez/Kathleen Tocke (Miami) had to work hard in light and variable conditions to beat up-and-coming “Next Gen” Snipe sailors Tyler Mowry/Izzy Fadullon (Annapolis/SSA) in 2nd and Charlie Miller/Lindsey Kloc (Salem MA) in 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 were Noah Zittrer/Watt Duffy (Texas) and Carol Cronin/Kim Couranz (Newport/SSA). Noah Zittrer was also given a special prize for best “First Snipe Regatta” sailor.

With 20 kts sustained outside, the RC sailed 14 Snipes (and 12 Harbor 20s) in Carr's Cove in the Severn River which made it much less windy (8-15kt) but crazy shifty. Congrats to Tyler Mowry/Izzy Fadullon for squeaking out a win over Christian… Continue reading Tyler Mowry/Izzy Fadullon win Wild, Windy Hospice Cup
2020 Frigid Digit chosen as ACC's! Thanks to the hard work of SSA and the compliance of Marylanders to keep our COVID rates low, the Annapolis Snipe Fleet is happy to announce that we will be hosting our annual Frigid Digit on Oct 3-4, 2020. Because we are one of the few venues able to host regattas in the Midatlantic Region, the Frigid Digit has been chosen as the temporary home of the Atlantic Coast Championships (we look forward to going back to Surf City next year!).
What do you get when you cross a fantastic group of women sailors, a fun & talented set of coaches/RC, ace on-the-water media, and 8-12 knots of breeze? A kick-ass inaugural Chesapeake Women's Snipe Challenge! Congrats to Sarah Alexander/Mariah Leffingwell on a hard fought win over Katherine & Jessica Bennett in a tie-breaker. Veterans Lorie… Continue reading Chesapeake Women’s Challenge Wrap Up
Despite the heat, there was sailable, remarkably consistent breeze both days and once on shore with a drink in hand in the shade of the awnings on the top deck, the socially distant vibe was excellent.
