Annapolis Snipe Fleet 532 and Severn Sailing Association served up a very competitive regatta with some interesting and challenging sailing conditions for the 2020 Snipe Colonial Cup Regatta. The regatta format was altered this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but despite all of the differences, the usual teams assumed the top spots on the scoresheet.
The Snipe Colonial Cup turn 45 years old this year. There have been all kinds of iterations of the event from purely local fleet racing to worlds qualifiers to combined regattas to socially distanced-during-a-pandemic style, but the Colonial Cup has always provided top competition in the Snipe. This 40 year old gem from the Annapolis Capital on June 9, 1980 is no different!
Today's Member Spotlight focuses on those helping during the pandemic. Kristin Mullins & Chris Adriance, Zack Kelchner & Georgie Peet, and Rich & Carol McVeigh are using their talents for good!
Fleet 532's first clinic of the season was a great success! We recorded the first video that has some great tips on boathandling and sail trim. Thanks to George for letting… Continue reading Annapolis Fleet Clinic May 2020

For those of us lucky enough to now be able to engage in “recreational boating” but not able yet to “congregate”, going out solo is a great (only?) way to start the season! For many of us, the idea of practicing solo is a bit foreign, but for the top guys, practicing solo is a… Continue reading From the Experts: Single boat practicing
As the consequences of the COVID-19 cancellations sink in, many Snipe sailors are not only sad, but worried that our beloved class may not thrive without major regattas to look forward to and championships to train for. As the Regatta Chair for the now postponed US Snipe Nationals, I share the sadness and concern. However,… Continue reading Snipe Sailing in the Time of COVID
Reality of the global situation has something we are thinking about as "The Great Pause" has affected the entire International Snipe Calendar with all major 2020 events being moved to 2021 for basically a big "do over". As such this is filtering down to the National and local levels and has affected this years US… Continue reading 2020 Nationals Will Be in 2021 We Hope
