Congrats to Lorie Stout and Lucas Masiello representing the Snipe Fleet for winning the Inaugural SSA Fleet Challenge! Trevor Perkins, nominated by the J22 Fleet with JRP crew Madeline Fisher (Broadneck HS) wore the Yellow Jersey most of the day, but a Corinthian correction of an earlier OCS bumped them down to 3rd for the… Continue reading Snipe Fleet Earns Bragging Rights in Inaugural SSA Fleet Challenge!
It was a little Frigid and breeze never got out of single Digits at the 2020 Snipe Frigid Digit, but in the world of COVID, it was a fun, crystal clear fall weekend with a great turnout of new and old Snipe sailors alike! Twenty-eight teams competed for the 2020 Atlantic Coast Champion title that was awarded to the winner of the Frigid Digit. Snipe rock stars Ernesto Rodriguez/Kathleen Tocke (Miami) had to work hard in light and variable conditions to beat up-and-coming “Next Gen” Snipe sailors Tyler Mowry/Izzy Fadullon (Annapolis/SSA) in 2nd and Charlie Miller/Lindsey Kloc (Salem MA) in 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 were Noah Zittrer/Watt Duffy (Texas) and Carol Cronin/Kim Couranz (Newport/SSA). Noah Zittrer was also given a special prize for best “First Snipe Regatta” sailor.
What do you get when you cross a fantastic group of women sailors, a fun & talented set of coaches/RC, ace on-the-water media, and 8-12 knots of breeze? A kick-ass inaugural Chesapeake Women's Snipe Challenge! Congrats to Sarah Alexander/Mariah Leffingwell on a hard fought win over Katherine & Jessica Bennett in a tie-breaker. Veterans Lorie… Continue reading Chesapeake Women’s Challenge Wrap Up

It had been postponed from the first weekend of June to the weekend… Continue reading Best Practices for Running a COVID-compliant Regatta
Fleet 532's first clinic of the season was a great success! To keep the COVID-induced social distancing, we substituted the typical "on shore" part of the clinic with Zoom videos conducted by Quantum's George Szabo. We recorded the first video that has some great tips on boathandling and sail trim. Thanks to George for letting… Continue reading Annapolis Fleet Clinic May 2020

As the consequences of the COVID-19 cancellations sink in, many Snipe sailors are not only sad, but worried that our beloved class may not thrive without major regattas to look forward to and championships to train for. As the Regatta Chair for the now postponed US Snipe Nationals, I share the sadness and concern. However,… Continue reading Snipe Sailing in the Time of COVID
