Women’s Snipe Nationals Planning Underway: Fleet 532 has secured hosting of the US Women’s Nationals August 6-7 at SSA. The Dynamic Duo of Devon & Lauren Feuhsahrens are co-chairs, so we know it will be EPIC! A great team met to start the planning last month and the ideas generated were super fun, including a half day clinic, luau’s, blenders, boat boys, “postponement paddleboard” races, to name a few! We will have charter boats available, so we hope to get a lot of new women into the boat! For more info this and other great Snipe Women’s events, check out snipewomen.com.
Annapolis Sailors fare well at the Miami U30 Invite: Lots of “Annapolis” in the Top Honors at the MSI! Way to go Bradley Adam & Trevor Davis (3rd), Nikki Bruno (4th crew w/Miami skipper), Lexi Pline (yeah, we still claim her when she gets 2nd with Miami skipper), and newcomer Cole Amaral (Top Junior) who just joined Severn Sailing Association as a Junior Associate!
Winter Season Halfway Through: There are 8 teams south for the Winter. First up was the Comodore Rasco the last weekend in January. We were blown out the first day, but the enjoyed cold but sunny “lake-like” conditions of the dying northwester on Sunday. Congrats to SSA Members Carol Cronin/Kim Couranz for Top Women’s Team (and Top Fleet 532) honors in 8th place! There were 12 U30s and 7 Women skippers. Next up is the Ron Payne in Ft. Lauderdale April 3 and the DonQ Rum Regatta April 8-10.
Looking Forward: First SSA event for Snipes is May 7-8. We hope to include a clinic in the morning. May is tune up for the first big Invitational of the year, the Colonial Cup, chaired this year by Nikki Bruno. The June Circuit will be fun as we go from Colonial Cup to Surf City, then on to Quassapaug (Snipe Camp!) the last weekend in June.
